A
veteran writer, producer, host and director in radio, television,
film and new media, Tim Wilson produces documentaries and profiles
both for broadcast and as private commissions.
A
former host of National Public Radio's Sunday Show, CBC
Radio's Arts Report and contributor to that network's
flagship documentary series, Ideas, he has also been presenter
for arts programming on VISION TV, the world's first multi-faith
television network.
Many
of his programs spring from a lifelong interest in poetry, psychology,
mythology and the sacred.
He
has guest-lectured, hosted and taught at institutions from the Banff
School of Fine Arts and the Marshall McLuhan Program in Culture
and Technology, to New York's Cathedral of St. John the Divine.
His
documentaries, including Chant: The Healing Power of Voice and
Ear (recently re-released), and The Fez Festival of World
Sacred Music have appeared on broadcast networks in Canada,
the U.S. and Europe. His television essays are now featured nationally
on The Hallmark Channel in the U.S., and his photography has been
published in the Pulse of the Planet section of National Geographic
online.
Upright
Grand, a poignant personal essay about his mother's descent
into dementia, won a Golden Sheaf in 2003 for Best Short Documentary
at Canada's Yorkton Festival, and honorable mentions in New York

A more recent film, The Last Weir, the portrait of a Bay
of Fundy fishing community faced with the challenges of industrialization,
won Best Atlantic Short Film at the 25th annual Atlantic Film Festival
in 2005, and a “Chris” from one of the most prestigious
of America's competitions, the Columbus International Film &

Tim
is also a founding member of the Canadian Association for
Sound Ecology, a group dedicated to research and education, preservation
and improvement of the sound environment.
